Their biggest complaint is probably truly alkaline soils where they wont grow well, which makes sense because theyre native to eastern U.S. Magnus Coneflower is a fine choice for the garden, but it is also a good selection for planting in outdoor pots and containers. If your zone is equal to or higher than the zone listed for the plant, it will be hardy for you and thrive in. They are used to determine whether a plant is likely to be perennial in your area. It can be propagated by division however, as a cultivated variety, be aware that it may be subject to certain restrictions or prohibitions on propagation. Magnus Coneflower is recommended for the following landscape applications It has no significant negative characteristics. It is a good choice for attracting butterflies to your yard, but is not particularly attractive to deer who tend to leave it alone in favor of tastier treats. Removing faded flowers regularly will greatly increase the blooming period. Plants form a tall mound of coarse dark-green leaves, by midsummer bearing large daisy flowers with magenta-pink petals surrounding an orange-brown central cone. This is a relatively low maintenance plant, and is best cleaned up in early spring before it resumes active growth for the season. Were partial, of course, to our own selection of the Purple Coneflower, but we find real value in the popular Echinacea purpurea Magnus variety. An improved form of ‘Magnus', the most popular Purple Coneflower of all time. Its medium texture blends into the garden, but can always be balanced by a couple of finer or coarser plants for an effective composition. Magnus Coneflower is an herbaceous perennial with an upright spreading habit of growth. Its large pointy leaves remain green in colour throughout the season. Magnus Coneflower has masses of beautiful lightly-scented fuchsia daisy flowers with coppery-bronze eyes at the ends of the stems from mid summer to mid fall, which are most effective when planted in groupings.
